New President's Letter

Welcome to 2016!

2015 was a whirlwind of change for me and it’s hard to believe it’s over. I changed jobs in the fall around the same time I moved from Crystal Lake to Streamwood. Now, I move into my role as President of the chapter from Vice President.  I’m excited to continue on working with an excellent board such as we have.

At each New Year, we always look to the future and think about all that we can do to improve. As a chapter, we make resolutions too, in our own way.

All of your board members work hard to make sure we’re doing our best to plan educational and networking opportunities you will value. We also want to make sure we’re listening to you and presenting topics of interest to you.

A particular focus of ours in 2016 will be how we can attract our newest designees to become members and not only members but active members, hopefully. To do this, we’re asking all of you to help us brainstorm ways to help.

The 2016 annual conference will take place in September this year in Honolulu, Hawaii. Because of this, we’re expecting a great many more new designees than usual so we have a major opportunity to ensure our chapter remains as vibrant and active as ever.

At present, we have 218 paid members of our chapter. Last year, we had over 240. The decline is due in part to reduced support within some companies. We need to reverse the trend, though, and we know we can. Therefore, we’re asking each of you to talk to your coworkers and encourage them to take the few moments to (1) pay their dues, and (2) to check that their chapter affiliation and contact information are correctly set (to ours of course) up on cpcusociety.org. Ask one of your board members if you need help figuring out how.

So please send us your feedback and ideas and we be sure to attend a meeting of ours even if you haven’t ever done so before. We can’t wait to see you and hear from you!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
